Hi, I’m Lorne Miess. I’ve been a Colourist for the past 25 years and in my spare time I teach digital colour theory. This web site has been assembled as a focal point for people interested in digital colour theory and aspire to be Colourists. As well as those working Colourists who want to know the industry news or want to know what’s going on with the new technology.
Over the next weeks and months to come, I’ll be making entries on a specific range of topics pertaining to colour theory and colour correction. I’ll also be assembling web links, reference materials and book selections to learn more about our industry. Our industry is vibrant and constantly changing and as professionals we need to keep up. I look forward to some bristling discussion on how our industry needs to evolve to be completive.

- I'm a Colourist by trade and constantly thinking of the future and it’s technologies. In late 2009 I attended Reducation in Los Angles to upgrade my skills with the Red camera. My focus is to offer dailes, colour correction and transcoding services to the independent film community specializing in but not exclusive to the Red workflow. With networking connections I'm on the cutting edge of technologies and workflows. For over 25 years I have been involved in the Canadian film and television industry. Through these years I've expanded from working on Autodesk’s Lustre to Apple Color which I'm an Apple Certified Trainer. I'm experienced with Final Cut Pro colour grading as well. When not working on colour correction, I'm busy in the local Vancouver film community doing seminars at local universities, colleges and film schools.
